RAISING OR LOWERING THE WHEELCHAIR |
WHY?
•The most common reason for changing the height of the chair is that you have an injury or disability which alters the shape of the body. You may have short arms and find it difficult to reach the pushrims. You may have a short torso which means that your shoulders/ arms are too low in relation to the wheels.
•One reason for lowering the chair is important for those in the hemiplegia category. The healthy foot is often used to kick the chair forward and the user therefore has to sit at a lower, more appropriate height to reach the ground.
IMPORTANT PRINCIPLE
•The chair should always be lowered/raised an equal amount at the front and the back. Otherwise the angle of the wheels and the castor fork pivot will be wrong. This will make the chair difficult or impossible to manoeuvre. Departures of around 5-8mm are acceptable, in "the right direction".
•If it is not possible to raise/lower the chair by exactly the same amount at the front and back, you should always make sure that the front a little higher than the back. It should never be the other way round.

RAISING THE BACK OF THE CHAIR USING A CAMBERAXLE |
How to raise the chair: |
Use the camber axle 2 degrees (or another angle) and assemble it using different middle sections for the different height options.
You will need two things: |

There are several ways of doing this. • The simplest is to change to a higher castor axle +10 and +15 available • You can change to a raising-kit 26". It gives +25 mm. • You can also change to larger castor wheels.

Mount the axle on the top of the frame tube. You mount the middle parts in the assembly kit (2 and 3) instead of the middle part that´s included in the "camber axle, kit". Screws and middle parts are included in the kit.
